The eighth step to build a playhouse is to decide on the type of roof. Your playhouse plans should recommend the best type. Just follow the directions and youll be okay. Most common types of roofs are hip or gable. The easiest being a gable since it looks like a triangle and it allows for rain and snow to drain off the roof. The hip roof is a little more complicated because it has more angles with all sides sloping down to meet the walls. It allows for snow and rain to drain easily as well however it provides more overhang if thats what you are looking for.
Decking and Sheathing Next comes the most rewarding part of the project: adding plywood panels to the roof (decking) and the walls (sheathing). For roof decking most playhouse plans call for 1/2" plywood panels that Ill simply nail down on to the rafters. Getting at the panels to nail them down might be a little tricky though. Some people suggest you go at them from inside the playhouse - with a step ladder poking up between the rafters. Then after each panel goes down Ill come down move my ladder and go back up for the next section.
By deciding on the type of building you desire to construct before you choose your plans you will be able to choose plans that perfectly match your desires. When it comes to the style of the playhouse you will be building you can choose from a variety of styles. You can either choose a Victorian-styled playhouse a playhouse modeled after a home a customized playhouse design or even a themed playhouse. Whatever you choose for your playhouse you should be aware that the type of style you choose may drastically affect the complexity of the building process.
