There you have it a playhouse built by you with playhouse plans from the internet. Granted this is a simple version of how to build a playhouse but with a good set of playhouse plans the process will be step-by-step and much more detailed. Building a playhouse is more of an advanced woodworking project however dont let that scare you away from trying to build a playhouse for your kids. Your kids will love you for building it for them and your family will have fun working together building a playhouse that will last a lifetime.
Building the Playhouse Floor After clearing and leveling a spot in the yard most playhouse plans have me dive into building the floor. 2x6 treated lumber arranged in a grid-like pattern (joists) seems to be the favored choice of materials for this part of the construction the same way its used in building floors for real houses. I can build the floor right on top of the spot I cleared in the yard but Ill probably put down a tarp first to keep the boards dry while I work on them. Building a floor thats square at each corner will take some careful measuring and maybe a carpenters square to make sure everything is lined up.
Looking at some of the larger wood swing set kits this is more along the lines of what I had in mind but these are just too expensive to buy. That leaves me to build a something myself. So now Im looking at playhouse plans on the Web. I cant say Im very happy with what Ive found. Of course Ive checked out all the free playhouse plans first hoping to at least get an idea of whats involved with this kind of project. Its looking a little scary so far. Most plans seem to be written by carpenters who toss around construction terminology as if I were right there beside them on a job site. So Im off to do a little research in how playhouses are built so I can figure it out for myself.
